Architectural Wonders: A Pop-Up Gallery of the World’s Most Amazing Marvels
Empire State Building. All other buildings in this book are the full buildings. However, due to the extreme proportions of the ESB, only the top floors were included, protruding through clouds, in order to have a pop-up of good scale and detail.
The famous Bavarian castle that was also the original inspiration for the castle at Disneyland!
Notre Dame Cathedral. This pop was originally designed to have die cuts for the windows and towers.
The Taj Mahal. Colored yellowish to capture its appearance as the light bathes it at sunset.
Sydney Opera House. Very difficult pop-up. Notice it encompasses all three buildings in the complex.

Paper Engineering by Bruce Foster, Illustrations by Dan Brown, Text by Kathleen Murphy Colan, Design by Kasey Free
Amazingly, the pop-ups of these buildings were designed without architectural plans or scale information. It was necessary to research the internet for available photography from as many angles as possible, especially aerial views and then extrapolate from these to obtain proportion and details.
